How secure is my payment?~
AVS - Address Verification Service compares the address and postcode entered when placing an order with the card issuers records. This "billing" address must match the address held by the card issuer exactly - if it does not we may have to cancel the order.
SECURITY CODE - Security Code Verification enables the card security code entered to be compared with the card issuers records. This is a 3 or 4 digit number printed on/near the signature strip on your card. It is not embossed on the card and so does not print on receipts - it is therefore more difficult for anyone other than the genuine cardholder to know the code and helps prevent "cardholder not present" fraud.
When your order is made, your card issuer authorises your payment only - we will only complete your order when we are satisfied that the details you have provided with your order can be verified. AVS and Security code verification services are provided by Barclays Bank in conjunction with banks and card issuers. On occasions, results are passed back to us that indicate discrepancies. We may, therefore, request further information to verify genuine cardholder details and if these details cannot be verified then we have no alternative but to decline the order.
